Overview

Amboseli National Park Travel Guide

Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s most recognisable wildlife destinations. Its open plains, seasonal lake basin, acacia woodland and permanent wetlands create excellent conditions for wildlife viewing, while Mount Kilimanjaro forms a dramatic backdrop when skies are clear.

Elephants are the signature attraction, but visitors can also look for buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, lion, cheetah, hyena and a rich variety of birds. Observation Hill provides a broad view across the wetlands and plains.

Amboseli combines naturally with Tsavo West National Park and can also form part of a short safari from Nairobi National Park. Browse our Kenya safari itineraries or use Plan My Safari to build a private route.

For current park guidance, conservation information and visitor procedures, see the Kenya Wildlife Service Amboseli National Park page.
