About this safari
Bring Kenya’s best known savannah landscapes together with a coastal finish on this 10 day private safari and beach holiday. Two nights near the Masai Mara are followed by one night at Lake Naivasha, two nights in Amboseli and one night in Tsavo East. Three nights at Diani then provide two complete days to relax beside the ocean.
The route is varied rather than rushed at every destination. Full days in the Mara and Amboseli allow patient wildlife observation, while Naivasha divides the cross country journey and offers a quieter setting between the major parks. Tsavo East forms the final safari chapter before the road continues to the south coast.
This itinerary includes a substantial Naivasha to Amboseli transfer, described clearly in the daily plan. Safari accommodation is in lodges and permanent tented rooms, followed by a beach hotel or resort. Explore the Masai Mara, Amboseli and Diani, then ask us to personalise the journey.

Your safari itinerary

Meet your driver guide in Nairobi for a morning departure toward the Masai Mara. The route crosses the Rift Valley and continues through the Narok region, with comfort stops and an included lunch arrangement. Your guide introduces the itinerary and keeps the arrival schedule flexible around traffic and the slower final road sections.
Check into your selected lodge or permanent tented accommodation for two nights. Where timing permits, an afternoon game drive introduces the grasslands and their wildlife; a later arrival means settling in without rushing toward reserve closure. Search for common grazing herds and other animals that appear along the route. Dinner is included at the accommodation.
Dedicate today to the Masai Mara, with your guide choosing a route according to current animal activity and track conditions. Look for big cats, elephants, buffalo and grazing herds while allowing time to watch behaviour rather than simply moving from sighting to sighting. The private vehicle lets the outing reflect your interests.
A packed lunch at a designated picnic place supports a longer safari day. Alternatively, discuss a lodge lunch and afternoon outing if the location and entry arrangements make that practical. Migration herds are seasonal and river crossings cannot be scheduled. Ballooning and cultural visits are separately booked additions. Return to the same accommodation for dinner and another night in the Mara area.
Enjoy breakfast before leaving the Mara for Lake Naivasha. Today changes both the landscape and the pace, with a road journey through the Narok region and the Rift Valley. Your driver plans comfort breaks and an included lunch stop so the transfer remains manageable without adding a demanding sightseeing schedule.
Reach your hotel or lodge and use the remaining afternoon to rest within the grounds. Watch birds from approved viewing areas and follow staff advice about hippos and other wildlife near the property. A boat trip or guided walk is optional, requires separate payment and depends on suitability and conditions. Dinner and overnight are at Naivasha before the southern transfer tomorrow.
Leave after an early breakfast for the journey from Naivasha to Amboseli through the wider Nairobi corridor. This is one of the longer road days of the holiday, with the estimate excluding stops and potential traffic delays. Your driver arranges several breaks and an included lunch stop rather than relying on an early lodge arrival.
Check into your Amboseli accommodation for two nights and take the remaining day at a restful pace. No afternoon park drive is promised after this substantial transfer. Tomorrow is reserved for a full wildlife day, giving you time to explore without immediately moving on. Enjoy dinner and ask about any practical arrangements for the following morning’s departure.
Set out early to explore Amboseli’s plains and wetter habitats. Your guide looks for elephant groups and other animals while explaining how water shapes movement and feeding patterns. When weather permits, Kilimanjaro may provide a distant backdrop, but the safari remains worthwhile even when the mountain is hidden.
Return for lunch and a break during the warmer part of the day. An afternoon game drive gives another opportunity to follow wildlife activity or explore a contrasting habitat. Keep a respectful distance at sightings and enjoy patient observation from the vehicle. Dinner and your second Amboseli overnight are at the same selected lodge or permanent tented property.
After breakfast, leave Amboseli and travel toward Tsavo East using the route and gate appropriate to your accommodation. Comfort stops and lunch are planned around the day’s progress, and your guide explains the changing scenery as the journey approaches the Tsavo ecosystem. Timing remains flexible where road conditions require it.
If arrival allows, take an afternoon game drive through accessible areas of Tsavo East. Search for elephants, giraffes and other wildlife while observing the contrast with Amboseli’s wetland setting. No specific animal is promised. Return to your lodge or permanent tented room for dinner and the final overnight before the holiday reaches the Indian Ocean.
Have breakfast and begin the road journey from Tsavo East to Diani. Today is primarily for travelling, with comfort stops and an included lunch arrangement before reaching the coast. The final arrival time depends on your safari property’s location, the chosen gate and traffic along the coastal corridor.
Check into your Diani hotel or resort for three nights. Your safari vehicle service ends after the agreed drop off, and the following days are free for leisure. Settle into your room, familiarise yourself with the accommodation and ask about swimming advice for the day’s conditions. Dinner is included, allowing the coastal portion to begin without another scheduled outing.
Enjoy breakfast and spend the day at a pace that suits you. The standard programme leaves room for rest beside the ocean, time at your chosen property and simple enjoyment of the coastal atmosphere. No guide or vehicle is retained for this leisure day.
If you want an excursion, ask for an operator and activity appropriate to your interests, with fees, transfers and any equipment agreed separately. Marine activities depend on weather and tides, and particular wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Lunch and drinks are outside the half board plan. Your evening meal is included at the beach accommodation, followed by another night at Diani.
Begin with breakfast before choosing between another restful day and an optional outing. The extra full beach day gives the holiday a proper coastal finish rather than a single rushed afternoon after the safari. Follow local advice for swimming and avoid assuming that every part of the beach is suitable at every tide.
Any spa visit, water sport, boat excursion or offsite transfer is purchased separately unless added to your written quotation. Lunch is also separate on this day. Return to your accommodation for the included dinner and confirm tomorrow’s airport transfer time. There is no compulsory activity before departure.
Enjoy breakfast and prepare for the private transfer to Ukunda Airport. Your collection time follows the onward flight details supplied during booking, with allowance for the hotel’s location and airport arrival requirements. Early flight departures should be discussed in advance so the property can advise on breakfast.
The package concludes at the airport. It does not include the onward flight, a return ticket to Nairobi, lunch or additional accommodation. A transfer to Mombasa Airport can be requested and quoted separately before confirmation if you prefer that departure point. Keep your international connection plans clear when choosing the final coastal flight.
Know before you go
How the private safari works
Your road safari has a vehicle and driver guide reserved for your party. The safari vehicle is not retained during beach leisure days. Coastal airport transfers are separately arranged private services. Park access covers the scheduled visits only; private conservancies and special encounters are not included.
Accommodation and meal plans
Hotels, lodges and permanent tented rooms are selected during quotation. Properties, room types, beach access and any child rules are confirmed in writing before booking. Pools, sea views, family rooms and premium facilities are not promised unless specified. Safari days include the meals listed in the itinerary. Full beach days use half board, meaning breakfast and dinner; lunch, drinks and snacks are separate.
Road timing and arrival
Driving hours are estimates before rest stops, wildlife viewing, traffic or weather delays. Long transfer days may have no game drive on arrival. The itinerary begins with morning collection in Nairobi, so a late arriving flight may require an additional Nairobi overnight.
Coastal activities
Beach days are for independent leisure. Water sports, boat trips, snorkelling, heritage outings, marine park entry, spa services and extra transfers are optional additions. Their availability depends on operator arrangements and current conditions. Follow local swimming advice and use a suitable operator for any marine excursion.
Wildlife and weather
Wildlife sightings, migration herds, river crossings, flamingo numbers and mountain views depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Beach conditions and tides also vary. Discuss the season and your priorities when choosing dates.
Children and personal requirements
Provide children’s ages, room preferences, dietary needs and mobility requirements before confirmation. Child arrangements depend on the selected suppliers and activities. No universal free child policy or fixed minimum activity age is set for these packages.
Departure and flight connections
The final coastal airport drop off is the package end point. Final onward flights and a return to Nairobi are not included. Send your flight plans before booking so departure transfers and connection time can be checked. Any alternative airport or extra night is quoted separately.
