About this safari
The 3-Day Masai Mara Private Safari from Nairobi is designed for travellers who want a short but focused wildlife journey without trying to cover too many destinations. The route follows a simple Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve and return structure, giving the Mara two nights and meaningful game-viewing time.
Travel is by private pop-up-roof 4x4 safari vehicle with an Esperanza Tourism driver-guide. The Masai Mara is known for open savannah, large concentrations of plains game and strong predator viewing, including lion, cheetah and leopard. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo and many antelope species are also part of the wider ecosystem.
Day 2 is deliberately kept as a full wildlife day so that the itinerary is not rushed. Depending on the season, wildlife movements and lodge location, your guide can focus on central plains, river systems and other productive habitats. During migration months, herd movement may be present, but river crossings and exact migration positions are never guaranteed.
This package can be combined with a longer Kenya safari, a Lake Naivasha extension or a Lake Nakuru National Park visit. Travellers who want a personalised version can use Plan My Safari.
For destination information and reserve planning context, see the official Masai Mara information portal.

Your safari itinerary

Depart Nairobi early in your private 4x4 safari vehicle and travel through the Great Rift Valley toward the Masai Mara. Scenic stops can be made when practical, while your driver-guide explains the changing landscapes and the route into southwestern Kenya.
Arrive in the Masai Mara area for lunch or an early afternoon check-in, depending on road conditions and the location of your confirmed lodge or camp. After settling in, begin your first game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve.
The afternoon is your introduction to the Mara’s open grasslands, river systems and acacia-dotted plains. Your guide will search for elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, antelope and predators. Late afternoon light can be especially rewarding for photography.
Return to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.
Spend a full day exploring the Masai Mara with your private driver-guide. The exact route is chosen according to current wildlife movement, road conditions and the location of your accommodation.
Search the open plains for lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and antelope. River areas may also provide opportunities to see hippo, crocodile and rich birdlife. During migration periods, your guide follows current herd movement, but crossings cannot be scheduled or guaranteed.
You may return to the lodge for lunch and rest between game drives or, where arranged, carry a picnic lunch and remain in the reserve for a longer continuous wildlife day.
Return to camp or lodge in the evening for dinner and your second overnight stay.
Begin the final morning with breakfast and, where timing and reserve-entry arrangements allow, a final wildlife drive before leaving the Masai Mara.
The morning gives one more opportunity to look for animals active in the cooler hours and to enjoy the Mara landscape before the road journey back to Nairobi.
Travel through the Rift Valley and arrive in Nairobi later in the day. Drop-off is at the agreed hotel, residence or airport connection point, subject to traffic and your onward schedule.
