About this safari
Stay longer in the Masai Mara before travelling south on this 11 day Kenya bush and beach safari. Three nights in the Mara allow two complete days of wildlife viewing, followed by a Naivasha overnight, two nights in Amboseli and one night in Tsavo West. The journey ends with three nights at Diani and a private coastal airport transfer.
The extra Mara day is useful for travellers who enjoy patient observation, photography or simply seeing different habitats without packing each morning. Naivasha then provides a quieter transition before Amboseli’s elephant country and Tsavo West’s rugged landscape. At the coast, the programme deliberately leaves two full days unscheduled.
The safari uses a private road vehicle and driver guide. Long transfers are described openly, and optional experiences are quoted separately. Read about the Masai Mara, Tsavo West and Diani Beach, or request a personalised itinerary.

Your safari itinerary
Open each day to view the route, activities, meals, transport and accommodation details.
Your guide meets you in Nairobi for a morning journey toward the Masai Mara. Travel through the Rift Valley and the Narok region with breaks to stretch and refresh. Lunch is included, with the arrangement chosen around your accommodation and the day’s road progress rather than a rigid arrival deadline.
Check into your lodge or permanent tented property for three nights. An introductory wildlife drive follows when entry times allow; otherwise, settle in and prepare for the two complete safari days ahead. Look for grazing animals along available tracks and begin learning how the Mara’s habitats fit together. Dinner is served at your accommodation.
Use your first full Mara day to explore with your guide, following current wildlife activity rather than a predetermined checklist. Patient stops may reveal the details of elephant feeding, antelope behaviour or predator movements when animals are encountered. The private vehicle makes it easier to match the outing to your interests.
Choose an extended drive with lunch at a designated picnic location or discuss a midday lodge break if the property and entry arrangements permit it. Migration herds may be present seasonally, but their location and river activity cannot be guaranteed. Balloon flights and cultural visits remain optional extras. Return for dinner and another night at the same accommodation.
The extra day in the Mara allows you to revisit a rewarding area or explore another habitat without leaving for a new destination. Your guide can adjust the route after yesterday’s sightings, giving more time to birds, smaller animals or favourite species. Photographers may value the opportunity to work with different light and animal behaviour.
Lunch is included as a packed meal or through the agreed lodge arrangement. If you request an optional activity, confirm its schedule, age suitability and separate cost before changing the wildlife programme. No particular sighting is assured simply because you have an additional day. Return for dinner and a third Mara overnight before tomorrow’s lake transfer.
After breakfast, leave the Mara region and drive toward Naivasha with comfort stops and an included lunch. The day shifts the holiday from open savannah to a freshwater lake setting, with your guide explaining the changing scenery along the road. Keep the afternoon expectations flexible around traffic and the selected property’s location.
Check into your hotel or lodge and relax within its grounds. Birds may be seen from approved viewing areas, while hippos and other wildlife must be treated with care and watched at a distance. Boat rides and guided walks are optional additions, not included in the standard stay. Dinner and overnight are at Naivasha before the longer journey south.
Depart Naivasha early after breakfast for the journey toward Amboseli through the Nairobi corridor. This is a substantial road day, with rest stops and lunch planned to make the transfer manageable. Traffic and weather can affect the final arrival, so the stated hours should be treated as an estimate rather than a guaranteed schedule.
Settle into your selected Amboseli lodge or permanent tented room for two nights. The programme does not promise an afternoon park drive after the transfer, keeping the arrival day realistic and unhurried. Enjoy dinner and a restful evening. Tomorrow is reserved for the park’s wildlife, without another intercity journey or accommodation change.
Set out in the morning to search Amboseli’s open areas and wetland edges for wildlife. Your guide may focus on elephant families and the different ways animals use water and vegetation, while staying responsive to whatever appears. Kilimanjaro views are possible in clear conditions but cannot be promised.
Return for lunch and a midday break, then enjoy another drive later in the day. The afternoon offers a chance to explore a contrasting area or observe animals at a different stage of their daily routine. Keep sightings respectful and avoid expecting every iconic species in every park. Dinner and overnight are at the same accommodation.
Have breakfast before continuing from Amboseli to Tsavo West. Your driver uses the practical route for current conditions, arranging comfort stops and lunch before the afternoon’s wildlife programme. Hills, rocky ground and thicker vegetation distinguish this setting from the more open Amboseli landscape.
Explore accessible tracks by vehicle where arrival allows, looking for animals while enjoying the park’s scenery. A route toward Mzima Springs may be considered if time and access permit, but no walking excursion is included automatically. The safari emphasises patient searching rather than guaranteed sightings. Return to your selected lodge or permanent tented accommodation for dinner and the final bush overnight.
Leave Tsavo West after breakfast for the road journey to Diani. The day is dedicated to travelling, with an included lunch stop and breaks along the way. The position of your lodge, the gate used and traffic toward the coast all affect arrival time, so no additional game drive is promised before the transfer.
Check into your beach hotel or resort for three nights and let the holiday slow down. The safari vehicle service ends after the agreed drop off, with beach days left free of scheduled transport. Ask the property for local swimming and tide advice, then enjoy your included dinner and the first evening beside the Indian Ocean.
Enjoy breakfast and spend your first full Diani day without a fixed itinerary. Rest at the accommodation, take in the sea air or enjoy the shore when local conditions are suitable. The change from early safari starts to independent leisure is a deliberate part of the holiday.
Optional water sports, boat trips and coastal outings can be arranged separately after confirming the operator, fees and conditions. They are not included simply because the day is free. Lunch and drinks are outside the standard half board arrangement. Dinner is included at the selected beach property, followed by another overnight at Diani.
Have breakfast before choosing how to spend your last complete day on the coast. You can keep the day quiet at the property or select a separately arranged experience, leaving time to return and enjoy the evening without pressure. Follow local advice for swimming and consider tide changes when planning beach time.
Lunch, spa appointments, excursions and additional transfers are paid separately unless specifically added to the written quotation. Your evening meal remains included. Confirm tomorrow’s airport transfer with the team and prepare your luggage after dinner, keeping the final morning straightforward.
Breakfast is followed by check out and the private transfer to Ukunda Airport at the agreed time. The pickup is planned around the onward flight details you provided, with allowance for your hotel’s location and airport check in. For an early departure, ask the property about breakfast the evening before.
The safari and beach package ends at the airport drop off. Your onward flight, any return to Nairobi and further meals or accommodation are not included. If Mombasa Airport is a better departure point, that longer transfer should be requested and quoted before booking rather than substituted on the final day.
Know before you go
How the private safari works
Your road safari has a vehicle and driver guide reserved for your party. The safari vehicle is not retained during beach leisure days. Coastal airport transfers are separately arranged private services. Park access covers the scheduled visits only; private conservancies and special encounters are not included.
Accommodation and meal plans
Hotels, lodges and permanent tented rooms are selected during quotation. Properties, room types, beach access and any child rules are confirmed in writing before booking. Pools, sea views, family rooms and premium facilities are not promised unless specified. Safari days include the meals listed in the itinerary. Full beach days use half board, meaning breakfast and dinner; lunch, drinks and snacks are separate.
Road timing and arrival
Driving hours are estimates before rest stops, wildlife viewing, traffic or weather delays. Long transfer days may have no game drive on arrival. The itinerary begins with morning collection in Nairobi, so a late arriving flight may require an additional Nairobi overnight.
Coastal activities
Beach days are for independent leisure. Water sports, boat trips, snorkelling, heritage outings, marine park entry, spa services and extra transfers are optional additions. Their availability depends on operator arrangements and current conditions. Follow local swimming advice and use a suitable operator for any marine excursion.
Wildlife and weather
Wildlife sightings, migration herds, river crossings, flamingo numbers and mountain views depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Beach conditions and tides also vary. Discuss the season and your priorities when choosing dates.
Children and personal requirements
Provide children’s ages, room preferences, dietary needs and mobility requirements before confirmation. Child arrangements depend on the selected suppliers and activities. No universal free child policy or fixed minimum activity age is set for these packages.
Departure and flight connections
The final coastal airport drop off is the package end point. Final onward flights and a return to Nairobi are not included. Send your flight plans before booking so departure transfers and connection time can be checked. Any alternative airport or extra night is quoted separately.
